There were some well-timed for my life deep thoughts that came from the books I finished this week. So many things to consider! Just a few are highlighted below.
Dignity: Its Essential Role in Resolving Conflict by Donna Hicks
‼️ Care and attention are key aspects of human beings.
✔️ Once we are aware, we are responsible.
🤯 Avoiding conflict is not avoiding harm or hurt.
‼️ Resentment finds refuge in gossip.
Ten essential elements of dignity:
1. Acceptance of identity
2. Inclusion
3. Safety
4. Acknowledgement
5. Recognition
6. Fairness
7. Benefit of the doubt
8. Understanding
9. Independence
10. Accountability
Ten Temptations to Violate Dignity
1. Taking the bait
2. Saving face
3. Shirking responsibility
4. Seeking False Dignity
5. Seeking False Security
6. Avoiding Conflict
7. Being the Victim
8. Resisting Feedback
9. Blaming & Shaming Others to Deflect Your Own Guilt
10. Engaging in False Intimacy & Demeaning Gossip
‼️ Righteous indignation is used to justify bad behavior all too frequently.
😳 Conflict stays alive when people do not feel acknowledged and when their voices are not heard.
‼️ We must treat others as if they matter, as if they are worthy of care and attention.
(This quote might be my favorite in this book.)

“Nightblood” by Elly Blake
I do love a good series and am sad when they end. This book reminded me:
❓ Be proud of a curious nature.
❤️ We all need words of encouragement and to know people believe in us.
‼️ The future might hold sadness & loss, but it would also hold joy.

“ The Comfort Zone: Create a Life You Really Love with Less Stress and More Flow” by Kristen Butler 🌻
I picked this book because I read A LOT about the danger of a comfort zone and wanted a counter perspective. This book did that for me.
😴 The more we enjoy the journey of life, the faster we attain our dreams.
🧠 Your mental habits contribute greatly to the quality of your life.
‼️ The way you speak to and about others determines the quality of your relationships
❤️ The more you notice things to appreciate, the more things you find to appreciate.
🤔 Every experience, even the worst ones, makes you who you are.
❓ Courage and comfort can and do exist simultaneously
